It's 21st June today and the " World Yoga Day ". In most parts of India people joined their yoga classes or groups and performed some yoga exercises and meditation. As for me I woke up later than my usual time and could do only " pranayam" a kind of breathing exercises that cleans both your mind and body. Makes you feel fresh as it drives away all the negative energy from your body. Brings in fresh oxygen into your body doing away with all the toxins and keeps you calm throughout the day. Yoga is both for a healthy body and mind. It makes us peaceful. In India it's being encouraged to help people avoid diseases and also reduce violence in the country which is growing too fast. If we are healthy and peaceful we can achieve a lot in life.

I agree, Yoga would be helpful in promoting good health and peace. I did try to do pranayam a couple of years ago, and it helped me calm down. I just have too many trivial activities that I stopped doing it.
But I will try to get back to it again in the future. Thanks for the reminder.

@aninditasen That's a good suggestion I previously did it before going to bed, But I will try that method, thank you.

The best time is early in the morning. You can try it before leaving your bed. Yoga gurus preach to freshen up, take a bath and then start yoga. However if that's not possible you can complete it before leaving the bed early in the morning. Pranayam should end with meditation.

That's a good one to celebrate! You mention many benefits there. I practice yoga and like the refreshed feeling I have when done. Also, it releases all the stressful clutter from my mind. Kind of like a time out.
