Abandoned Boat – The Saga Continues

Busy couple of weeks. Mother has fractured a vertebra and is in a nursing home, so there was a mad dash to get Gaia cat into a cattery and then find a B&B in Peterborough. The nursing home was a fair way aways, but the weather wasn’t too bad for travelling by train. In the ‘no good deed goes unpunished’ department, I helped a young woman with too many bags up the stairs near Peterborough station. I was told it was full of shoes, but I think she was smuggling gold! Felt a twinge in the old back that got progressively worse over the next few days. In the end I was hard pressed to get comfortable and sitting up was not an option. Feeling sorry for myself, I just mainly watched the telly and read, with the occasional trip, full of moaning, to the make tea. Over the worst and riding a bike makes my back feel better, so I went out for a few miles and spotted the abandoned boat. It seems to have been cast adrift and is floating back towards to Slough. Guess its friendship with the other boat was doomed as that one has moved on. The picture is from my video camera as I forgot my other camera.

I fear there is no easy cure for mum's back. I have resolved to improve my back stretching and exercises. Have to stop being so lazy!

@Ronrybs Take care, do not overdo and you will be fine soon. I am also surprised that the boat is still there.

@LadyDuck I guess they will either take it away or it sinks!

Mum is still recovering, but slowly and it will likely be far from total. I am slowly getting more flexibility, but need to take care. Surprised that the canal authority haven't taken the boat away

Will the boat just float on down to the slough? Or will the "authorities" eventually tow it away?

Eventually it must be taken away, if not claimed. Not sure if there is a hazard to navigation on inland waterways, but it would end up being that

I'm so sorry this happened to your mother. That must be so painful--poor thing. Maybe someone could take the boat and refurbish it?

Thank you, sadly I fear it may be a very long term condition. I thought someone had claimed the boat, but it looks like it is too far gone or too expensive

I think the nursing home is helping her with some exercises and meds, but I think it will be a long road. As for me. slowly getting my flexibility back. Have been looking at improving my back exercises and stretching routine

I hope it's not true that no good deed goes unpunished. Cycling helps my back feel better as well.
