The bliss of solitude.

Love and death, thinking, gall stones, painting the bathroom, squeezing tomato juice, passing exams, passing urine, passing the buck - I love this life but it does get very busy and the duties are many and complex. There’s never a dull moment. It’s all go, go, go, and if we win loads of money our heads get turned. Rivers flow into out left ear and out the right ear, rivers of nonsense, flattery or chopped liver - no wonder next door’s cat is always sniffing about. But wouldn’t it be lovely if just once you could sit down somewhere other than the toilet and have no-one to disturb you? No-one to ask you dumb questions, nobody to hurry you along because they need to go.

I am retired so I take my time doing everything. There is no one to hurry me. Life is good.

It would be a "state of bliss" when no one would be able to disturb you. I love being alone and I enjoy being alone. But I want some company once in a while as well, so it's good that my family is around and knows when to leave me alone.

I have those moments I sit in my favourite corner and reminisce Just this morning for about 5 minutes there was pin drop silence - no traffic on the road, no dogs barking, no birds chirping and no humans talking

My partner is driving me nuts at the moment trying to rush me everywhere, even when I have things to do at no particular time. Has he just got stuck in the habit of chivvying everyone??

@fleura I must confess that I am an inordinate chivvier in the matter of other people’s duties. I prefer to be the “foster child of silence and slow time” myself of course, but I do tend to chivvy my wife if I know she has some busyness to proceed with even if it involves not me.

I stay alone and don't always need to hurry. Even when I am with my elder son now, he is busy with his office work. I get the solitude I want.

We are retired with no one to look after. We do what we want when we want. Enjoy the rest of your day.

It would be a wonderful world if we could simply sit and enjoy doing nothing (well except what we need to do when we sit in that place).

Those moments have become like luxuries with me, balancing life between work, chores, family and other commitments. But somehow I make sure that I steal some moments each day for myself. And my mylotting time is one of them where I get to relax and find solitude.
