Day 349 (Jeremiah 12:1-4) Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You; yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously? You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; they grow, yes, they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth but far from their mind. But You, O LORD, know me; You have seen me, and You have tested my heart toward You. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter and prepare them for the day of slaughter. How long will the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither? The beasts and birds are consumed, by the wickedness of those who dwell there, because they said, “He will not see our final end.” What makes you happy? Is it because you do whatever you desire without consequences? Jeremiah prayed and asked God why wicked people were so happy, and why they prospered in their treachery. Isn’t that your question too when you see wicked people enjoying the fruit of their wickedness while you plod along barely eking out a living? Jeremiah didn’t hesitate to pray for God to judge them for their wickedness. Christians have many examples of people praying against the wicked, yet they keep silent and accept what they see as changing times. Where does it say you need to tolerate wickedness and accept what the world is doing? There is no better time to pray than right now. Pray as Jeremiah did for God to judge the wicked. Do not let Satan work against you, telling you what you need to do for the sake of tolerance while his people enjoy the fruit of their wickedness. You know God will judge everyone in His righteousness. Your daily prayer should be to see God move among His people and raise them up because they love and trust Him to work in their lives. Do not sit back and tell yourself that’s the way it is, and that you must conform. Evil rises in this world because you don’t pray. Pray, and watch God move. Then you will see that wicked people are no longer happy in their wickedness. Let’s pray: Father, let my prayers come before You when I see the prosperity of the wicked. Hear my voice when I pray against the evil taking place in the people around me. Hear me, Lord, and act in Your righteousness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. My days of doing what I want without consequence are over. I was blind to what I did in the past; but I know now what I did was wrong; and I am heartily sorry for it.

It's good you know what was wrong. Have a blessed day. Look forward, not back.

@LindaOHio Many people do. Sometimes I do too. It's best to leave the past in the past and move forward. You're welcome. Have a blessed day.

@just4him Thank you very much. You have a blessed day too. My problem is letting things go. I tend to dwell on the past.

I learned this quote and it has always stuck with me “Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.” John S Mill

True. If we don't do anything evil will prevail. Have a blessed day.

This is a perfect reminder for us Christians when we choose to do nothing as we see evil continue to prosper in the world.

Good reminders but I thought this goes against "Love your enemies"? or am I wrong? Shouldn't we give back bread to them so they could see the goodness of God and be influenced positively by our actions? Just seeking some clarification. Thanks, Valerie. God bless.

No, this doesn't go against what Jesus taught about loving our enemies. We are to do that, but we must pray against their wickedness. Have you heard the phrase, love the sinner, hate the sin? When we pray for God to act in His righteousness, Satan's hands are bound. He can't work in the lives of those who practice wickedness. In that way, you are loving your enemies, because you are praying for them to know God's truth in their lives and not follow what Satan desires for them.

@just4him I see. I'm not so well-versed in the old testament. I'm wondering why my country's lawmen still disapproved of the divorce law. We're predominantly Catholic. Anyway, thanks for entertaining my questions. God bless,

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy,' "But, I say to you, Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father, who is in heaven" From Saint Matthew's gospel, chapter 5, verse 43. So, we should pray for all people that they find God, know God, and come to love God, and we should not discriminate, between praying for good, or bad people only, as God wants all souls to come back to him.

Is it almost like ' turning the other cheek' when we keep silent?

No, it's worse. You're allowing Satan to have his way. Have a blessed day.

@Kandae11 Turning the other cheek is about resisting an evil person, it is not joining him in his wickedness. That is what Satan wants you to do. If you don't join in the wickedness, be complacent about it. Take no stand. That's being tolerant of the surrounding evil. Instead, you are to pray for God to act and get rid of the evil and bring justice to those who practice evil. It's all about active prayer. Take a stand. Pray. Then watch God move. David depended on God to take care of his enemies. Jeremiah prayed for God to act. The three men who were thrown into the fiery furnace did not bow but stood tall for the Lord, and God acted on their behalf. Daniel continued to pray even though it meant he would face lions. We are not to tolerate evil. It is not a case of turning the other cheek.

@just4him So what the Bible tells us about turning the other cheek would not apply here.

We were all wicked before we accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. So, yes, they can change. Have a blessed day.
