Embarrassed

I was chatting with a friend and them a message came and I didn't understand it . It read " sexual harrassement presentation" this was after I had said I wish I could do anything in my power to make the person feel better! So I thought the person meant I was being sexual. It hit me hard that I had to send messages including voice to explain myself and why I feel bad that I was misunderstood! The answer is " it's a presentation we are having at work about sexual harrassement" was I too sensitive? Or the sender was very ambiguous. Am now ashamed , how do I apologize for misunderstanding the message! texting is sometimes hard and messages can be misunderstood just like my case . Am embarrassed

It's usually, sometimes I ask for clarification if I don't really understand something

It isn't your fault, the sender should have been more precise as to what was being discussed. It's so much easier to misunderstand the written word verses speaking directly with them.

That's why I usually find it very hard to converse with some people via text cause their way if testing is usually ambiguous and they really expect me to understand such an ambiguity

I feel the same way. If I can speak to a person on the phone then I can more or less figure out the intent and if I am confused I can ask them to reiterate

I think if you sincerely apologize and explain that you misunderstood the message, it will be enough.

I have misunderstood many things and ended up ashamed and embarrassed. Just apologize for this misunderstanding and hopefully, the ones involved will simply forget this issue. Life is full of things we say and do, that we don't fully understand.

@Laurakemunto When others misunderstand what we say, they should take it lightly, also.

I don’t think you did anything wrong at all, and that they just jumped to the wrong assumption. If you feel you need to apologize, just make it a short, succinct apology stating you misunderstood. It doesn’t require further explanation in my opinion.

Don't worry it was a misunderstanding. That word is like fire. There's a lot of misunderstanding when that word comes up
