I sent my editor the first 5 new chapters of the novel I'm rewriting. How many edit notes will he come up with? Only time will tell. I hope to have 5 more chapters ready for him by next Monday. One thing I already know - the second edition is going to be a shorter book than the original. Shorter but a much better read. Have you ever undertaken to redo something and been nervous about how it would turn out?

All the time, I’m working on a painting now that has me worried.

What is it about the painting that has you concerned?

@RubyHawk I can understand why that would be a problem. Getting the shape, texture, and perspective right on clouds would be a challenge.

@DWDavis Clouds, I’m having trouble getting the clouds just as I want them.

Yes and no. I edit books for a few people and only worry when one of them is being difficult about making recommended changes. It's still their book so they can choose to make the changes or not, of course. Good luck with your book.

My editor is good about discussing changes he thinks need to be made that I hesitate to implement. Sometimes I win. More often, he wins.

@DWDavis That's the best way to do it. Some writers don't want to make any changes and that's frustrating when I'm trying to help make their work better. It's what they pay me to do. When all they're willing to do it correct typos, I tell them not to put my name down as editor. I don't want to be associated with crappy work.

@DaddyEvil Some writers don't understand the difference between a proofreader and an editor.

I would say probably just a Mylot discussion I thought twice about. Now I feel bad ending a sentence with a preposition.

I have redone a lot of my crochet projects coz I was never satisfied with how they turned out. But was never really nervous about it.

Are you able to undo the yarn and start over?

Best of luck. I hope it reads like YOU want and not what the editor thinks.

I'm a perfectionist and redo things waaaay too often. I submitted my book to an agent; but I only made minor changes. Enjoy your day. Good luck with the rewrite!!!

Thanks. I'm finding that rewriting is a much more painstaking process than writing. I should know this already, considering how many drafts it usually takes me to get a book to the point I'm willing to submit it to my editor or beta readers.
