Some Good News

As I have mentioned I had my appointment today with my endocrinologist.
I was worried that it was going to go horribly. I thought that my A1c (that checks the average blood sugar over 3 months) would be higher than last time. However, it was not, it was down quite a bit.
Last time it was 8.6, today it was 7.2! Now that is still too high, but it is much better than where I have been.
My weight did go up 5 pounds, but I guess that is not as bad as last time being up 10 pounds, and the time before up 20 pounds. Next time I hope to lose most of the extra weight at least.
The doctor did want me to add some more medications. He wants me to try Mounjaro instead of staying on Ozempic; see if that one helps me better. However, insurance may not cover it; we'll see. I know I follow someone who has lost over 100 pounds while taking the Mounjaro.
He also wants me to go back on Glipizide (blood sugar med) And of course thinks I should be on a cholesterol med, not excited about that.
I thought doing better would mean less meds! Guess I am not doing a lot better, just a little.
So yeah, that's my little update on my health and how my appointment went. What do you think?

@just4him I got it into the 5's before, but that was before the DKA and before I was on insulin. That was the one time I did stick to low carb for 3 months with 1 cheat day per week.

My doctor is happy with where I am it with the A1c. I know I would rather it be in the 5's at least.
I will work on dropping the carbs, but I know how bad I am at that

Glad that you are better but do guard your food intake for lowering your sugar and cholesterol.

@MommyOfEli2013 Body has some natural cholesterol but diet without fat at times reduces the cholesterol levels.

I am not worried about cholesterol. The body is going to make it if you don't eat it....

@aninditasen The body will make it though if we don't eat it. and cholesterol itself is not bad.

Well I was surprised, figured it would be at least 9, not 7.2. The docs just want us under 7...so I am close.

If you can get your weight down that could help with some of the other things. Glad the A1C is down some

I know that losing weight can help with a lot, especially this extra 40 I put on. I just don't know why I put on so much so quickly which is my worry. Doc doesn't seem concerned though.

@MommyOfEli2013 Weight goes on faster than it goes off

@wolfgirl569 I definitely know that. But I ate the same calories that I was maintaining on, so should have not gained 40 pounds. Maybe like 10...but not 40!
