Not a King, But He Has a Throne

Good evening!
We just had a quick downpour move through. Typical summer fare.
The photo I’m sharing tonight, from a previous vacation, is of the throne of the president.
Yep, that’s the toilet on Air Force One.
Since the planes were used by Democrats and Republicans alike everyone can agree that an a**hole sat on it.
I’m hoping to do some sightseeing in Ohio next week. It’ll all depend on the weather, of course, but I’ll try to visit this auction Eva is talking about all the time.
I also want, most significantly, to see the prison in Mansfield where The Shawshank Redemption was filmed. I sure hope everything falls in line so I can!
The Air Force Museum in Dayton, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, has unquestionably the best military museum I’ve been to. I went to the Naval Air Museum at NAS Pensacola, and it pains me to admit that it pales in comparison to the Air Force Museum. One of their displays is every retired Air Force One plane, dating back to FDR’s. Roosevelt only used that plane once, and he decided he’d rather stick to trains.
The planes include the one that JFK used. It’s marked with signage that shows where seats were removed to allow the president’s coffin to ride in the passenger area of the plane, because Jackie Kennedy refused to let the casket be put in the cargo bay. It also has a sign depicting the area where Lyndon Johnson took the oath of office.
I think it’s cool that they have all the planes that have served as Air Force One on display in one location!!
Anyway, that’s my memory for the evening. Y’all have a good’n!

This was the plane from the 50s, so presidential bowel movements weren’t all that important.

@LadyDuck — like that Jack Nicholson line in The Bucket List about getting older….”never pass up a bathroom…and never trust a fart.”

@FourWalls
Those Presidents were younger, now I think they may pay more attention to their bowel movements.

Very interesting. Sad about the Kennedys. I remember those days very well. Wave when you're in Marion! Have a good weekend..

That all sounds like it would be a lot of fun. My dad went to The Andy Griffith Museum today, and I think he thought it was the coolest thing ever.
If he saw The Shawshank Redemption prison he might not be able to handle the excitement.

@FourWalls He left Nashville this morning, and on his way to Raleigh they stopped at Mount Airy. I’m not a Andy Griffith fan, but it sounds like a charming place.

Presidential planes have toilets because that’s what they do to us as they fly over us.

I hope you can make it. Just let me know. We plan to be there both days next week. You will get some sightseeing done in Amish country if you do go. Just make sure you have some cash on you as they didn't pay the electric bill again so can't take credit or debit cards

When I saw your headline, I thought I'd see a photo of a cat sitting on a toilet... yeah, I'm still half-asleep and not at home.
