Indians are finding it hard to make two ends meet because of price rise of most essential commodities. Vegetables have sky rocketing prices, now it's the pulses( especially dal), again the government will be announced a hike in petrol and diesel prices. Both the Central and the State governments give a rise of 4% DA( deafness allowance) every year but raise the cost of essential commodities like Vegetables and dal more than 100%. Isn't the government cheating us. They are taking away much more from us than what they are giving. Mid day meals in government schools in Odisha are being served without vegetables. If this continues that day is not far behind when most Indians will be Mal nourished.

Yes I can understand that malnourishment can happen now due to lack of veggies and so on. It is terrible the way things are now for people to survive, so sorry.

The poor are dying without food in many parts of the country. Making every man of the country have a sustainable income should be the governments priority but again we have less well paying jobs in India.

@AnneW21 That's true. So some people try to live on morsels of junk food.

It is and a day will come when no political party will get a majority or there will be a civil war in the country. Hunger culminates into revolt.

@jeets03 It's the UN's statistics which can be manipulated by the politicians but not the WHO. With so much of food crisis there's ample evidence of malnutrition deaths. We may not be a poor country but a country with lot of people still dying without food.
