Any Door Dashers here?

Several months ago, I started working with Door Dash. I like the job, itself. However, it seems like the comments of many others are true- that door dash either keeps your tips or decreases your pay the longer you drive with them. At first, I got good tips. Now I have many orders, in which, there are no tips at all. I am getting frustrated and started to realize it is not worth the auto expenses incurred to work for this company. Has anyone else had a negative or positive experience with this?

Before Covid, I had heard Doordash didn’t give dashers their full tips so I would give the person I got food from, cash instead. That way they got the full tip. My sister and brother-in-law did the same thing. When Covid hit, they went to no contact, and I quit seeing the Dasher face to face so I went back to tipping online. I feel badly for you guys; that’s not fair.

Its a shame because the job can be a lot of fun. I like meeting people and interacting. I love driving and listening to music. But the whole point of a job is to make money because it is needed to live.

@gnatsmom Absolutely. I’m disappointed to learn that’s what they do to the dasher’s tips, and I’m really sorry this might force you to stop.

That's a shame the work is starting to not be worthwhile. Tipping isn't really a thing in Australia but it seems to be gaining a hold.

I would never use my car for that to put extra miles on it and wear and tear. It is to bad you are not getting good tips anymore.
