Hospital food has improved.

During my daughter's stay in the hospital, she got to experience three meals while I had one in their cafeteria while she was in surgery. I thoroughly enjoyed mine. She ordered her dinner while in recovery and then breakfast the next morning. She didn't take photos of the lunch she had the next day, so I can't share that. Have you had hospital food lately? How was it? First, she had chicken parm with mashed potatoes and string beans. She said it was OK, but it looked delicious. She's used to it having lots of pasta sauce. Her breakfast was a 'make your own' omelet with French toast and fried potatoes. She said it was delicious. It looked amazing even with spinach in it. Meanwhile, I had some delicious fried catfish with string beans and a bag of crunchy Cheetos (the price was less than $7!!) Anyway, I think, in general, the food is far better than it used to be. The string beans were actually fresh off the bush. Some still had stems attached. Overall, the food was really quite good and the servings were not stingy.

I went into the hospital last year for a stress test. They served me a turkey sandwich with plain potato chips. (They didn't ask what I wanted.) The turkey sandwich was dry and the bread was stale. I wish I could have had one of the meals you're showing in the photos.

Yeah. I think the sandwich selections can be pretty bad.

@DaddyEvil They don't have to like the truth, but they do need to respect it. Another patient may like it, but you don't have to.

@jerzgirl I ate half of mine. The nurse kept urging me to eat more of it. I told her I would if she could make it taste better. She got annoyed but at least she left me alone.

Isn't very often I hear someone say that. But I'm glad it was a good experience since having to be there usually isn't.

I shared my daughter's lunch. She didn't want me going down to the cafeteria.

Those sound like very good meals but I would rather stay out of the hospital. I do remember when I went to university I did volunteer work at a hospital and the food in their cafeteria was delicious,

I was impressed with their meals. Not so impressed with the items they forgot to include.

Hospital food is way better than it used to be, unless your in a stick diet.

@jerzgirl for as much time I've spent in the hospital with others, I can tell you how much it has changed.

I had hospital food. It was good and bad. Some days no one could eat it and they fed the dogs. It was awful.

I have no doubt there will be bad days. But even the selections sound better than they used to.

I noticed back when my dad was hospitalized in March, the food looked much better. He handed me the salad, and it wasn’t wilted like it used to be. It’s nice that they put more effort into the meals. I think he had chicken fried chicken, and actually ate it all, which is rare for him.

That's good that he liked his meal if he didn't usually.
