A Light Breakfast

A toasted English muffin slathered with peanut butter is my breakfast this morning. I don't know if you can see the photo. I cannot. I reduced it to the size that usually works, so don't know why it won't show.
I'm going light on breakfast because K is working from home today and has promised to take me out to lunch after we visit the bank.
We are celebrating the arrival of my first pension check. Actually, it should be my only pension check as direct deposit will be used for all subsequent payments. Why the first payment had to be mailed to me as a check is a puzzle.
I am hoping to get the next episode of my current Vella story posted today. That will make 4 episodes this month. The story isn't new. It's one I had on HubPages for ages. I pulled it from there and, after some polishing and editing, I'm publishing it on Vella.
"Why," you may ask, "are you not working on the novel you're rewriting?"
Fair question.
The answer is easy. I needed a break from it in order to be fresh when I get back to it.
Anyway, that's my Friday morning so far. How is the last day of the work week treating you?

@wolfgirl569 Funny story about that. When we were camping last week, a friend we haven't seen in a long time made the trip. She's divorced now and bought herself a tiny tow-behind camper. After K saw it, she told our friend that she'd get the same type of camper if I wasn't around. Later, she amended it to be what she'd do if something tragic happened to me, Heaven forbid.

Yay! Your first pension check. How exciting! I'm familiar with HubPages but not with Vella. Do you mind my asking what it's under on the internet? We're retired so every day is Saturday. Enjoy your day.

Woo hoo! Happy pensioning!!! I don’t know why they’d mail a check (other than to be contrary….”Oh, wanna retire? We’ll make you work for this. Here, go wait in line at the bank!”). I signed up for direct deposit long before my first Social Security payment was due.
Oh, well, enjoy it!!!

They were invented by an English baker who immigrated to America. They aren't really muffins at all, but a thin, pre-sliced crumpet.
Here is a link to a blog post with the history of Samuel Bath Thomas and his English muffin.
