I love nature

Out on my walk this evening I visited another small lake in my neighborhood. This one is just behind me about one street over. Within the past year the city constructed a gravel trail that extends all around the lake and this was my first time walking it. This lake serves as a public beach in the summer and a place for people to ice skate in the winter. There are summer cottages aligning the street in front. I am fortunate to live amidst such a natural setting. There are two other lakes within walking distance of my home.

Wow, you have many lakes nearby! It's nice when there is a public trail . . . makes walking a whole lot easier. As a skater, I am envious of those who can skate on real frozen water outdoors. Sounds like a dream for me . . . yes you are quite fortunate!

@Starmaiden You get to have real winter lake activity out there! I imagine it just beautiful with all of that being snow covered!

I've seen people ice fishing on it sometimes. The city checks for ice thickness before people can skate on it.

This photo shows the same lake at opposite ends. An oasis in mid metropolis.

@Starmaiden It looks so quiet, I like to live close to the nature and far from big cities.

@LadyDuck I'm a country girl at heart. Born and raised in an agricultural region by the ocean. I was drawn to the city as an adult but the country in me remains. I chose a city in my home province that offers a balance of both urban living and nature. My city is dubbed "The city of lakes" for a reason. The Atlantic Ocean is very close by.

nature walk behind my home
@Starmaiden This nature trail runs along the creek behind my home. My roundtrip route (which includes a small portion on a side street) is two miles.
