Art Class Week 12

This week was the last week of painting, and we did a street scene in Provence in acrylics. The taxi was really early again. He was there at quarter past but I didn't see him arrive so I don't know how long he'd been there before I saw him! Then I think he was getting a little impatient because he rang the doorbell! When I got there I was the first to arrive again, not surprisingly. I got myself a cup of green tea and a biscuit. I had brought my sketchbook from home to show the tutor, where I'd been practising my animal drawings and she was really impressed and told me to keep it up. Next to arrive was Paul, and then the rest of them arrived in the nick of time. The little doggy was crawling under the table again, but this week I didn't see her lick the floor. The tutor explained what we were doing and how to do it. Then we went and chose which picture we wanted to use as reference. I chose two, so when I got to the table I could chose between them at my leisure. Once I'd chosen which one to do, I drew a thumbnail sketch in my sketchbook, (the class sketchbook, not the one I brought from home), and then I drew a border around my large sheet and sketched out the scene. After I'd done that I started blocking in areas of colour, but I left the area where the foliage was going to be white, and I put some figures in and painted around them. When that was dry I started putting in some detail, and some of the foliage. But I didn't manage to get the right purple colour for the top left hand building to the right of the foliage. While I was waiting for what I'd done to dry, I went and enquired about next week and next summers course. Next weeks mounting session is on the Thursday, not the Friday as it said on our prospectus, and it's the same time as usual. And she told me that my friend Yasmin will have to pay the same amount that I paid this year for next years summer course but I'll get a £20 discount and complimentary materials as a returning student. The prospectus for next weeks summer course isn't ready yet, but she will send it me through the post when it's ready. At about 4:50pm, we went and put our paintings on the floor to admire them, and one of the tutors talked us through what will be happening next week. The exhibition on Saturday 5 August actually starts at 3:00pm not 4:00pm. I thought we'd just be getting everything ready at 3:00pm, but that's being done earlier. We can go and help putting paintings on the wall if we like, but we don't have to, we can just come and enjoy the exhibition. So then I put my things away and went and got in the taxi which was waiting for me just up the road. When I got home I told the taxi driver that next week would be the last Thursday I'd need him, but he got a bit confused and I had to make sure he knew that yes, I do want a taxi next week. I also told him that I might need a taxi on the Saturday but I don't know yet. That'll probably have confused the poor guy aswell! I got in the house and told my Mum about next weeks mounting session being on the Thursday, not the Friday, so I can go shopping on the Friday next week if I like. I had my dinner and watched some telly. As my painting isn't finished yet, I was going to finish it Thursday night in the dining room, but then The Dog Academy and the Supervet were on, so that put paid to that. I was going to do it last night, but then Celebrity Gogglebox: Best of 2022 was on with Sam Ryder so that put paid to that too. So I'm going to do it today (Sat 29 July) as soon as they've vacated the dining room after lunch, I'll commandeer the dining room for the purposes of doing that!
