Day 18 Zechariah 2:10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming, and I will dwell in your midst,” says the LORD. 11 “Many nations will be joined to the LORD in that day, and they will become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts sent Me to you. 12 And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land and again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!” Have you waited for something and begun to doubt you would see it happen? What do you do when you hear your wait is over? Israel was in captivity for seventy years. God told Zechariah to tell the people to sing and rejoice because their long wait was over. God would send them back to Jerusalem, Judah, and their homeland. When He did, then Israel would know God lived among them, He had not forgotten them. God told everyone to be silent when He started working for His people. Christians long for the day when Jesus returns. As God gave His people prophecies that they would return to their homeland, Jesus gave His disciples signs of His return. Matthew 24:1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone will be left here upon another, that will not be thrown down.” 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must happen, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 Then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Many false prophets will rise and deceive many. 12 Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end will be saved. When you look at the world today, you see the signs Jesus talked about. There have been false messiahs, and wars and rumors of wars, taking place all over the world. Many countries see famine. The world just came through a worldwide pandemic, not for the first time since Jesus gave this prophecy. Earthquakes happen in places not seen in many years or never seen before. Natural disasters take place everywhere. Everything Jesus spoke about is happening now. Jesus told them what to do when they saw the signs being fulfilled. Luke 21:28 “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (NKJV) It’s time to sing and rejoice because you know Jesus’ return is soon. No man knows the day or hour, but you know the signs. Just as God’s people would soon return to their homeland, Jesus will return to take you to Himself. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me the signs of Jesus’ return for His people. Let me be watchful, knowing His return is soon. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
