2023 Health Journey - August 1st

As I have mentioned previously, I was starting back on low carb today. I did stay very low carb and low calorie. I wasn't necessarily full, but in the evening I didn't want to find food and/or cook. Weigh in - 223; basically I gained back the 5 pounds or so that I had lost a couple weeks ago. Blood sugars - fasting 117 before bed - 69 (no I am not in bed, but going soon) What did I eat today? Meal 1 - Can of tuna with mayo and cheese Meal 2 - 4 oz burger patty with cheese and mayo, mustard, ketchup (just a little bit) 5 tater tots (10 carbs) Ended the day of eating under 1000 calories, 54 protein, 67 fat, and 19 carbs. I would like to be around 1200 calories and 90 protein...but the carbs were at a good place. What do you think? Not sure how to get extra protein in....maybe I should get some protein shakes.

How much protein is a person supposed to have per day? Do you like almonds? A handful of unsalted almonds would increase your protein intake, and it might be cheaper than a protein shake. The fats in almonds are good fats unless you eat a bag full (which my dad did one time, lol). You’re doing good, girl!

@MommyOfEli2013 Well, you’re better off not liking almonds or nuts than eating a whole bag of them! I understand needing carbs when you have low blood sugar.

@AmbiePam Probably safer that way lol. But I brought it back with a little bit of carbs, didn't need to have them in my first actual "meal" of the day lol

Depends on different things, I think at least half your body weight in grams, so I should probably have more like 110 grams. But I like to at least get 75 grams....which can be done if I eat 3 meals lol. I definitely do not like almonds, or any nuts lol. I do like peanut butter, but that is not a nut technically it's a legume lol. I didn't do good today, my sugar dropped to 49 and I felt off so when we had a meal out I had some carbs.

Good job! A protein shake would be a good idea. Enjoy your day.

You don't eat breakfast? Eggs are a great source of protein.

I am not really a breakfast food person. I am not a big fan of eggs on their own anymore....I know they would be good to eat but they just don't sound appetizing. And in the summer, I really don't eat till 11 or later usually
