My daughter got a hard cast

You know about her injury and about the encroaching infection that sent her to the ER last week. This week, yesterday, the doctor removed the soft cast, verified the healing process and put a hard cast on. Neon lime green!! No missing it!! She still can't walk on it, but she is allowed to get up and move around. She uses her "peg leg" to do that (a hands free crutch called iWalk). She still has the knee scooter for when she has to travel. It's more comfortable for longer distances. But, she is healing and on her way back to living. She still can't go to work for at least two weeks. They'll decide then if she can. But, it will be several months before she can drive again.

@DaddyEvil She makes a pretty decent couch potato, but your back starts to hurt after a while and her left leg gets fatigued easily from not being able to use it regularly.

Thank you. Our biggest concern right now is financial. Without her job, there is no income. She applied for short term disability both through the state and through her employer's plan. The state rejected her application saying she didn't return forms they never sent her. Her employer won't file, even though she pays a premium for the coverage. Her employer won't file for their coverage and is only willing to give her $25/week for four weeks. It's all just pure insanity. How can people live? Especially when landlords don't give two poops about the reasons why you're having problems. But, we're trying and one way or another, we'll get by.
