Legacy

We had this tea set which was used only when guests arrived. It was a beautiful tea set. From the photo you will see the size of the saucer - surely much larger than what we see today In course of time there was hardly anything left of that tea set what with careless handling by the maids. Mother gave away whatever there was to her children and I got this saucer. For me it is a memory of my childhood - associated with special guests that enjoyed relishing their tea or sometimes coffer. I cannot attach any price to it but it is priceless. It is now over hundred years old as it was given to my mother by her loving brothers as a wedding gift. I can call it an antique piece Any stories to share?

Wow! Hundred years old.. that's a true legacy and priceless. I have got one huge gold earrings from my husband's grandmother. It is like tarazoo( weighing pan) and it's so heavy that I fear that one might cut the ear piercing with the weight. It has been passed down the generations. Interestingly, I have got one of the pair while my co sister gets the other one

@allknowing I said the same. I love my ears more than those earrings. I would check if I have a picture of that somewhere. It stays safe in the locker that I have in Ranchi. And to be honest it looks ugly though it's unique. Imagine a huge weighing pan hanging from your ear and that too in an old fashioned gold jewellery

I have my grandmothers locket which my grandfather gave her when my father was born Inside the locket is a picture of my grandfather in his Navy uniform and a baby picture of my dad. My grandmother gifted it to me on my 21st birthday. It's probably 100 years old already.

I do actually. We are bengali hindu so we value brass utensils (kasha) a lot. When I was born, my great-grandmother gave me a brass plate and my mom engraved my name on it. It was passed on to my great-grandmother by her mother. I still have that, tho I never use. But that piece is also also like 100 years old and I am only 20 haha. These things are really priceless.

I had found some items that were not used in my house at present. It was the only time that I decluttered the place and saw some old plates that my mom kept for a long time.
