Yet another flower that loves the rain. It stays dormant throughout the year and shows up at the first shower slowly growing into a full vine with flowers all over the garden. It is a flower that one sees in jungles but I have given it a pride of place and that orange colour that I see at random spots in the garden brightens up my day. What wild flowers do you like or you have in your garden?

It is the favourite of the caterpillars and I have to keep a look out for them.

@MarieCoyle It has done that here. The leaves of this vine have moisture in them.

@allknowing I know what you mean. A hungry caterpillar can eat an entire plant in a day.

That is a beautiful flower. I just bought a pack of wild flowers and they came up really fast.

I had bought a pack of seeds of the wild flowers from the US but none survived.

@allknowing That's sad. Maybe the seeds were old.

This stanza from the poem 'Elegy written in a country churchyard' by Thomas Gray comes to mind "Full many a gem of purest ray serene, The dark unfathom'd caves of ocean bear: Full many a flow'r is born to blush unseen, And waste its sweetness on the desert air". But I did not let that happen with this flower

That is a pretty flower. I like exotic flowers most but don't keep a garden or any indoors (because I don't want to risk my cat getting sick or dying).

We have had cats and a garden for years and no cat has dyed because of it

@allknowing Yes, but some plants are toxic to cats, so I don't want to chance it. I have even found some toxic plants that are alleged to not be toxic.
