Poor thing. It has been 3 days this homeless guy sleeping in front my apartment. I gave him some food once in the first day when I first saw him sleeping there. My neighbors told me not to give him any food as he would never want to leave. One of my neighbors said she would call police to make this guy leave. I'm sad for this guy but I can't do anything to help him. What do you think about this situation?

I think you've done the right thing. Maybe the next thing you can do to help him is to look up local homeless shelters or charities or food banks that may be able to provide assistance to him.

Sadly they seem not to have local homeless shelters in this country. He left before somebody ever called a police.

Unfortunate one but then we can't deny that it's there. You have to call the authorities who can help him. I think that your neighbour is right in a way. We have to help them but not encourage them.

@Shasha_ We need to help them in a way that they get right help to be independent and live with dignity. I don't mind giving food to someone in need, but then it should not become habit. Everyone has to earn their food.

@arunima25 That is so sad to see homeless here. People don't care about their existence. As soon as they see any homeless near their house, they immediately shut their door. I also saw some homeless which are still quite young and able to work, but they chose not to get a job..I'm not sure why. My guess is they were already hopeless.

Yes, I agree with you. We don't want them to be dependent on us for food all the time.

Sadly there is no homeless shelter in this town. I just did some research about it.

You did the right think giving him some food. May be you should warm him that someone wants to call the police, to find another place and you could give him some food in the future if he is not too far.

We never had conversations. I tried to, but he seemed to be high after sniffing glue, so I when I gave him food, I just put it next to him.

Thanks. That was what I thought about, too. I no longer give them any food. He left before anybody called a police. That's good for everybody.
