While waiting for a contractor to show up and give me an estimate I’ll give you another song that I love that showed up on the infamous Clear Channel Memorandum after 9/11. Some of these I (sort of) understand, and others were “Oh, just because of the song’s title” choices…I guess. Here’s today’s song. Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band Yeah, all the planes were grounded for a week. Planes were the weapon. But planes weren’t the cause. Radicalism was the cause. Still, plane songs (Peter, Paul, and Mary’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane” was also on the list) were frowned upon. Now, I realize that we have this “cupcake” mentality (and, as I showed with songs that were banned back in the 30s and 40s in last month’s countdown, it’s nothing new), but I give people a little more credit than that. Or maybe I’m the one who needs their head examined. Jet Airliner Written by Paul Peña Recorded by the Steve Miller Band From Book of Dreams, 1977 I’ve got to keep on keeping on:

They broke the mold with this one. I hope the estimate is reasonable.

I had a threshold price and they were under it, so I ordered it. Yep, the song is a good’n.

Love that one. It does make a little more sense than some have

In this list, the fact that it does “make a little sense” is a rarity.

Yup. Back in high school or maybe shortly thereafter I was working at the Gap and liked to do stock--unpack the boxes, get everything out of the plastic, get it folded or onto hangers, etc. A classmate of mine and I would work together and listen to the greatest hits CD of Steve Miller Band. We had so much fun. I can still see her face but I can't remember her name.

Oh, you got the edited version of that (and “Fly Like an Eagle” and “The Joker”) on that greatest hits album. (Don’t ask how I know that….) Now…off to the pool with you!

@FourWalls I want to go there but I'm waiting on Whiskey and the cleaning lady just got here. I don't mind leaving her alone here but my neighbor will expect me to hang with Whiskey for awhile before putting him back to go to the pool.

The edited version takes the four-hour guitar intro out. (Along with the dirty word.)

I like this song, but I can understand how a song featuring a jet airliner could be seen as possibly disturbing to a pathetically sensitive population.
