Epsom Salt Benefits You May Not Be Aware of

I have used Epsom salts in my bath for years. My daughter is now using it for sore muscles. It is good for reducing swelling, decreasing inflammation, reducing soreness, and increasing magnesium. They say it might also help in soothing the skin and reducing itching and irritation. Soaking in it can also help with circulation, colds, flu, exfoliation, fungal infections, and just general relaxation. The way it works is that when you put it in warm water it dissolves and the magnesium and sulfate are absorbed into the body through the skin. But don't let it all go down the drain. Take some out to your garden. It helps your plants produce more flowers, grow bushier, increase chlorophyll production, and keep slugs and other pests away. It also helps seeds to germinate.

@rasmasandra It also gives garlic more potent flavour if you dissolve it in the water you use in the garden.

@xFiacre now you tell me when I no longer have a garden. It probably would have done wonders for my garden in Latvia,

I love to get my foot bath out and have a little soak with epsom salts and warm water. Then I give myself a nice little pedi afterwards. I did not realize that I could continue to use that water by putting it on the garden.

Yeah, it gets filtered through the soil, so even soapy water has its benefits in the garden.

I don't use it in every bath, because it, like everything else is getting much too expensive. People will gift me bubble bath but rarely epsom salt, so I use it mostly when I've done a hard day's work. It does help.
