Day 32
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
Do you know people who get in the middle of an argument to break it up and restore peace? My grandmother was a peacemaker. Whenever Dad and Grandpa argued about politics and sports, Grandma was right there to stop it and restore peace to her home.
A search of the word peace shows there are 366 Scripture verses, one for each day of the year. God wants peace in your life. Yet people go out of their way to bring trouble as you can see every time you turn on the news.
Proverbs 12:20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but counselors of peace have joy.
Jesus said peacemakers would find blessings in their lives and be called sons of God. One of Jesus’ names is Peace. You hear it spoken at Christmas. You will find it on Christmas cards, and find it is the most peaceful and joyous time of year. Though that too is changing.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
As Christians, it is your duty to bring peace to your home and surroundings. You are to live peaceably with your neighbor.
Proverbs 16:7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
God promised a long life to those who kept His law.
Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; 2 for length of days, long life, and peace they will add to you.
Are you a person of peace? Do you try to maintain peace in your surroundings? When you don’t add fuel to a fire, the fire dies out. It’s the same with arguments. If you stop arguing, you will bring peace to the situation.
Bring peace with you wherever you go, and people will want to be around you. You will find blessings in your life and be known as a peacemaker.
In one of Jesus’ teachings, he said:
Mark 9:49 “For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves and have peace with one another.”
Let’s pray: Father, let me be a vessel of peace to those around me. Instill in me a peaceful attitude and not one given to unnecessary arguments. Bring blessings into my life when I live peacefully with my neighbors. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

In James, chapter 3, verse 17, we find this verse.
"But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy."
And so, God's wisdom is a peaceable wisdom too. We should try to be peacefully wise too, without being angrily arrogant.
When Jesus Christ said that he did not come to bring peace, but a sword, I think he must have meant that we cannot sit back on our laurels, but must be actively alive followers of God, and himself, and our doing of this, often will cause some conflict around us, and yet, even in this conflict, we can retain our peace still too.
