I know it's mid-summer, but I'm ready for Jack Frost

The students returned to my old school today. I hope everything went well. My friend who took my place posted a picture of her youngest all set for his first day of 5th grade. I posted her well wishes for the new year.
Somehow, having kids start back to school on the hottest day of the month thus far just seems cruel. Outdoor recess could not have been much fun for anyone today. With the RealFeel over 105F, even Sophie and Ace don't want to spend more time than absolutely necessary outside.
Something cool did happen to me today. My first short story submission to the online publication I'm writing for was published. This is a neat coincidence since the story is about the first day of school.
I submitted my second story this week. We'll see if it passes muster and gets published as well.

@RebeccasFarm I am enjoying the chance to finally write full-time. Getting added as a contributing writer to an online fiction magazine at Medium dot com is an added boost.

We started today at 69F and topped out at 75F. It was nice outside with a cooling breeze. The storms over the weekend really helped bring the temps down.

@DaddyEvil I haven't heard of any flooding. The storm moved through quickly with a lot of wind and lightning, though.

We never went back to school until after Labor Day. Congratulations on getting your story published. We are getting some much-needed rain. The temps have been pretty tolerable. Enjoy your day.

I wish Mylot would actually show the picture you tried to post.
Today, it was nice after an overnight soaking. All last week it was above 100 degrees, with yesterday being 104 degrees yesterday. Today, it is a nice 83 degrees, and finally, the awful humidity is gone.
