Do you still set alarms to wake up?

August 15, 2023 4:45am CST
Most of us wouldnt wake up easily at the targetted time until we set alarms . It appears the habit is not that popular today. Maybe I am wrong or its not popular in this part of the world. Do you still set alarms and is it effective in getting you awake at any time of the day?

I set an alarm yesterday but was awake and playing on myLot an hour and a half before the alarm went off. I usually wake up before the alarm when I do bother to set one.

Unless I have a specific place to be like church, breakfast with a friend, or a doctor appointment I don’t set an alarm because I generally wake up at the same time every day. However, if I have any of what I just listed, I set the alarm on my phone just in case there is one time where I might unintentionally sleep late.

@ogbenishyna Sometimes my dog will wake me up (to be petted right then, for some reason), or a commotion outside will jar me awake, but usually everyone is quiet from 10pm to 9am. I have had to call the police in the middle of the night due to troublemakers, but I usually go right back to sleep.

oh that means your body has automatically adjusted to that time to wake up. Dont you get interrupted in your sleep sometimes in the middle of the night?

I do not set any alarm unless I need to be somewhere. Usually, Hospital appointments which I do not like to miss at all.

I set up my alarm for 5:20 on weekdays as I don't want to take any chance on working days. But my natural rhythm is well set now that I wake up five minutes before the alarm rings on most of the days . But still it's a habit.

The alarm has helped you adjusted automatically.

@ogbenishyna Maybe. It's a habit for decades now and has become more of a biological rhythm
