Good day all, The weather people were wrong, yesterday was a nice sunny dry day and seems most of the flooding has gone down and things are drying out. This is a good thing that they were wrong. Standing water like that is never a good thing. It’s nice that the storm brought cooler temperatures with less humidity which I am always happy with. Looks like the rest of the week is going to be like this. I watched The Shawshank Redemption yet again the other night and that movie is so good. It never gets old. Funny when you think about how it was a box office flop. When it was released in theaters it only brought in 16 million on a 25 million budget. It did go on to be one of the best rental videos of all time. When it was released in theaters it was in competition with two other big hits, Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump so I can see how it didn’t do so well. Not to mention the name of the movie does not seem to draw you in to watch it. A few other things to note about the movie which I find funny. There were several actors considered for the part of Andy the lead in the movie. Tom Cruise was offered the role but declined due to not wanting to work with an inexperienced director. I mean he did go on to have a good career but kind of tells you the type of person Tom Cruise is. Kevin Costner passed on it for the lead role in Waterworld. Remember that movie, voted in some places as one of the worst movies of all time. Tom Hanks but he had the lead role in Forest Gump. Others like Gene Hackman, Robert Duvall, Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman, Johnny Depp, Nicolas Cage, and Charlie Sheen were all considered at some point till they decided to go with Tim Robbins. Hard to imagine Andy being played by anyone else now that we see what Robbins did with the part.
