The Fair-Weather Friends: Myth?!?

Through the years of my existence, I have encountered fair-weather friends. They have been friends only during the good times. When it comes to difficulties, they just fade away in thin air. This is one of the reasons why I have learned to be cautious when making new friends. These days, it is hard to find so-called true friends. It takes more time to get to know someone before opening up without any shortcomings. How do you make friends? Have you experienced this kind of situation? Image Credit: cdn.quotesgram.com

Real friends are those who survive the test of times. Happy that we have a very few of them who have stayed with us for decades through thick and thin. And do did we for them. A lot of friendly acquaintances but only a few true friends.

I agree that it is like getting married—they will be there through thick and thin.

@Shavkat Not all marriages stand through thick and thin. Yes, lucky ones do

I think we all experience that type of situation at times. Good luck finding new friends... I do wish you lived closer to me.

@DaddyEvil At some point, it is possible. Unless you are going to give me an invitation letter, In this way, the US Embassy will allow me to have the visa. I am not sure if this is still an effective way, though.

I do agree that it is a part of life. Come on, we are friends virtually and the rest of myLotters here, either near or far.

@Shavkat True but I think we'd be friends in real life, too.

I’m not really sure how I make friends. I just try to be myself, and usually people respond to that.

@Shavkat Yes. You can’t just let people close to you, indiscriminately.

I can be sure that I am good at blending with people and make friends at the same time. But I am bit choosy when it comes to making close friends.

I agree. We just need to deal with them in a balanced way.

My good friends I shared my money with could not understand that I didn't have money. And a couple just did not want to hear it when I asked for a couple of dollars of the large amount I lent them. I was very mad. Now I must be extra cautious. And can't be too generous. I need to have money for when I need it.

I think we really need to think ourselves first when it comes to money. Since I had also experienced dealing with people like thus before, friendship will not need to engage with money matters.
