Good day to you all, Hope you all are having a good day and that the week was well. I watched another movie that is said to be based on a true story. Of course, I read up on it afterwards to see what was changed from the truth to only be added to make it more entertaining. The movie called The Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy is based on the life of Hugh Glass. Glass was a Fur Trapper who survived a bear attack and a betrayal in 1823. The movie received multiple awards from Golden Globes to Academy Awards. It was also a big box office hit. In the movie it is portrayed that Glass was married to a Pawnee woman and had a son with her however there is no evidence of a marriage or of him ever having children. There is no writing of the story by glass himself to corroborate the story so most of it may have been embellished over the years. A few things that we know from the movie that were not correct from the time period. In the movie he remembers seeing a pile of Buffalo skulls, however this does not work with the time period. The Buffalo slaughters did not take place until 1870, almost 50 years after this story took place. In the movie John Fitzgerald (played by Tom Hardy) talks about his father having friends in the Texas Rangers and about going to Texas to join the Army. History tells us, in 1823, Texas was still part of Mexico and therefor would not have an American Army let alone the Texas Rangers. The ending of the movie also got it wrong. Of the two men, John Fitzgerald and Jim Bridger, who left him for dead and Glass himself were not killed at the end of the real-life story. Despite the inaccuracies the movie is very entertaining and certainly worth watching.

I associate this with a bear ripping Leonardo di Caprio apart.

@snowy22315 I’m glad I haven’t seen it. That sounds hard to watch.

@AmbiePam It is more kind of like fascinating. Now if he were hurting an animal that was still alive, I would have a big problem with it. Any sad animal movies hurt my heart...

I have thought several times about watching this movie and something has kept me away from it. Now, after what you wrote, I think that I won´t watch it after all.

Interesting you should mention this movie. I saw it in the theater because it had great reviews but recently started watching it again on Free vee. It is a good one. I looked up the Glass true story too..I always get curious about things like that.

I have seen a few times but still a good watch. Yeah, I had to look up the movie, which I often do when I watch a true or based on a true story movie.

@Bensen32 What is sort of strange is, when you watch something "based on a true story" you find out how basically untrue it is...makes a good story, but they take dramatic license to an extreme.

@snowy22315 Very much so. Sometimes the movie is not even close to the true story.
