And We Have A Couch!

Finally! After using a couple of foldable camping chairs for a while, we now have some decent seating situation in our living room. Moving to a new home is a lot of work, especially if moving to another state. Adding to the challenge is a set timeline, since this move is prompted by my husband's work. So he has to report to the new workplace on a certain date. The upside of moving is it gave us a chance to actually purge and look deeper into what we have accumulated over the years. We made some serious purging and selling of a lot of things that we have not used in the past 6 months as long as they do not hold some sentimental value to us. I cannot believe we managed to accumulate this much!

How far away did you move? I am glad to hear you made some money by selling things. Wouldn’t it be great if we were motivated to go through all of our “stuff” before moving forced us to? Because moving is basically how I make the hard decisions on what I should keep. Currently, I am emotionally handicapped by things I inherited from my late mom. It’s been several years, and I still don’t know what to part with. Eventually, something will force me to, but I’d rather just do it now. Congratulations on the new couch! Couch shopping is fun to me for some reason, but I am very picky. Due to finances it has to be cheap, but I still won’t settle for just anything.

It's only a 4-hour drive, but it sure felt farther than that because of the literal baggage that we hauled. I am also easily attached to stuff, especially those that were handmade by family and friends. There was a period in my life when I feel like I am obligated to purchase something when there is a great "deal" going on. Now, I have learned that if I don't need it, even if it's on sale, then it's "expensive". We got a 32% off on the couch because it's a floor model, and we made sure that we did not sacrifice quality as well. We're getting older, so that comfort and lumbar support are kind of a big deal now.

I know how you feel about moving from one resident to another since the amount of clothing and materials inside a home to another residence can be huge to deal with.

It's overwhelming. But it has slowed down some, and I just can't wait until everything is in place and just start our new lives here.

I only stayed for 9 years in our old house, but my husband has lived there for 19 years! I cannot believe that we had 3 Christmas trees in the attic. LOL!
