Thanks to the actions of Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) Deputy Lira Rangel who answered an emergency call from a concerned person who witnessed an auto hitting two ducks in the Clearwater area on Friday evening.
By the time that Officer Rangel arrived at the scene of the auto accident, one of the ducks had passed away.
The second duck who suffered an injury fell into a pond and the duck had a hard time staying afloat when Officer Rangel jumped into the pond and he managed to get the duck out of the pond safely.
Officer Rangel then handed the injured duck to a member of the Clearwater Audubon Society after he had called them earlier to take the duck to an animal hospital where the duck made a full recovery and sent on his way to freedom.
I am sure that the driver of the auto that hit the ducks had a hard time seeing the animals due to the darkness on the road.

Poor duck that will teach it not to get too far from the water, I am glad the duck was saved,

We have a ton of Canadian geese that call my area home. And I do mean a ton of them. Often one gets killed or injured, as they hang out in extremely busy areas, cross city streets, etc. and you never know when one is going to step in front of your car. I've managed not to hit any, but when you are in high traffic areas, sometimes you can't stop or you are going to get hit/hurt. Glad that they saved the one who could be saved.
