We have what is called boiled rice which we eat every day We use the pressure cooker as it takes long to cook. Then there is Basmati rice which is used for making pulao or biryani. We also have what is called white rice that is used for making idlis and other goodies. What type of rice do you have and what are its uses?

For the most part, we use Jasmine rice. Every now and then we will use Basmati if there is no Jasmine. And then we also use sushi rice if we want to make sushi. Lastly, we also use sticky rice for desserts and rice cakes.

I eat Basmati rice the most, by far. I rarely eat white rice because I like it too much, and I know I’d eat too much of it, and have too many carbs. There is nothing wrong with white rice except I never eat the right portion. I used to eat it all the time.

The most expensive is basmamti rice more for its flavour. Some add what is called biryani leaf to white rice to get that flavour

Brown rice is what we call boiled rice This rice takes a long time to cook and so we use the pressure cooker. How about you?

@allknowing I don’t use a pressure cooker. I simmer it on low heat.

I honestly have never made any rice in a pressure cooker. I mostly use Basmati or Jasmine. I don't mind brown rice, but my family isn't really crazy about it. I love wild rice, a lot...there are so many varieties of rice.

@allknowing I will eat basically any of them, but it just depends on what I'm fixing and who is eating it. I always have several varieties of rice in the pantry on hand for whenever I need it.

We have white rice, brown rice and red rice. Brown rice and red rice have more nutrients.
