I saw in some social media post that Thai power couple Mark Prin Suparat and actress Kimberley Voltemas was engaged this morning in a Northern Thai Engagement rituals. They are so beautiful dressed in Thai clothing as they perform some engagement rituals or tradition.
They are two of the best Thai actor and actress which is said to be married this September.Every South East Asian country has this rituals that is to be performed befire getting married and I love watching them .
Here in our country the Philippines , there is a practice or a tradition that must be done before getting married and its called " THE PAMAMANHIKAN" which means both families of the bride and groom to be must meet and talk about marriage plans. This is also the time that the groom to be will ask for permission or blessing of the bride's parents for marriage.
I have seen a lot of it from my friends and colleagues who are now married.
Lotters, how about getting married in your country , are there rituals or tradition or practice that must be done before getting married?

My husband and I are in an inter-racial and inter-cultural relationship, so a lot of our traditions in the Philippines did not happen. But still, we informed our families of our intention to marry before we sent out the invitations and save the dates.
I still find these kinds of traditions to be sentimental and valuable, even if I am just a witness to it. I even love watching documentaries of indigenous cultures' marriage rituals.

I agree with you maam. Watching them feels like I am also included in the ritual or practice . It hits different specially from South East Asian countries they have prayers and chants sometimes.

I have seen a lot of failed marriages and I saw how hurt they were. I am from a broken family too and its hard for me specially I dont know how a family with both parents are together felt like ....

It used to be here, that the man went to the woman’s father, and asked permission to marry his daughter. A heck of a lot of people still do that, although many scoff at it as old fashioned. My dad did that for my mom, and my brother-in-law also went to my dad to ask permission to marry my sister.

Those are the old but gold practices and beliefs before and its good that there are some who is still doing it. But as technology of today progresses there is what some calls " The Practical " way of getting married and asking for permission to marry . They just do it like normal conversation but its also good because it is still asking for blessing from both parents.
