I have been reading a lot about it over the past 3-4 weeks and many say its best to have normal water with salt when we are experiencing headaches. I tried it once and it worked but I am not sure if it can treat severe headaches. What do you do when you are experiencing severe headaches?

I take a Soma tablet and go to sleep until the headache is gone. My doctor prescribed them for migraines.

@Butterfingers Migraines are usually caused by stress. Going to sleep relaxes us.

I think taking a pill will be the best solution in such a situation.

@Butterfingers Usually taking one pill will be enough to solve the headache problem. So I think it is OK.

Dehydration is sometimes the cause You are doing the right thing but adding salt is not what I would do.

@Butterfingers I have never suffered from a migraine and have regular headaches. I take something we have here in Israel which is like an aspirin and eventually it goes away.

I have had migraines (different from regular headaches) since I was eight, and I was fourteen when over the counter medication stopped working. Now, I take prescription medication because otherwise I’ll throw up, possibly pass out, or my vision will go black if I don’t treat it. Sometimes dehydration can cause headaches, and if they are, it’s a good idea to grab a Gatorade to restore your electrolytes. That’s not why I get them, but it’s important to stay hydrated.

I rather go to the doctor. You drink that when you have sore throat, gargle it twice a day i think.

Drinking water might help if you have headache due to dehydration and exhaustion..if you know the reason behind it, it would be better to cure it. I generally get it after long hours on screen and a walk in fresh air helps. Salt water will help if it's due to low BP.
