Before anything else, I want to ask that everyone keep our myLotters in Idalia's path in your thoughts today. Especially those in Florida, where flooding, wind, and rain is already taking a toll. I've already seen reports of tens of thousands without power along Florida's Big Bend coast. Jeff, April, and all of you in FLA, you're being held close in my prayers today. Those of you in Georgia and here in the Carolinas, hunker down and be ready. Idalia is coming our way. Please be safe today.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. All is well here in my part of Florida. Lots of wind and rain, but no major damage that I know of. I think we'll learn more about the level of damage once it's safe for authorities to venture out again. I suspect lots of damage along the coastal areas due to storm surge flooding. It almost looks like Georgia and the Carolinas will get more rain than we did from this storm, so I hope you all stay safe up your way!

Glad that you're okay. The wind is still gusting here and rain bands are passing by with less frequency. Parts of the county saw some flooding, but we're okay here at the north end. Just some small branches down are all I've seen so far.

@moffittjc That's going to be miserable. And temps are going up, too.

@DWDavis Glad to hear it wasn’t worse for you. A lot of the counties to our northwest have lost all power, and authorities say it may be a week or longer before they can get power restored

Every year here in the Caribbean we must watch and wait from June 1 to November 30, hoping that a big one doesn't hit. Over the years l have been taking note of the mames chosen for these hurricanes . Some names sound like danger from the beginning, while others sound simple - like Idalia - and turn into a major storm.

Sometimes it is the storms with the most benign names that do the most harm. Floyd and Matthew were devastating in our area.

@DWDavis Hope you don't get hit too badly there in NC. Looks like Idalia is going to spread in your direction. Stay safe too. Certainly hope Jeff, April and everyone else are okay .Hopefully if you or someone hears from them they'll let us know.

@Marilynda1225 I heard from April. They got some wind and rain but the storm mostly passed east of them.

A hurricane shows nature's raw power. It reminds us to be humble about our place in the world.

So far everyone that I have talked to is OK. The storm is still packing winds of 60 mph and is heading for Virginia. Have a good day.

We got a lot of rain overnight and the winds are still gusty. Some rain bands are still coming through now and again. Parts of the county south and east of us received a lot more rain and saw some flooded roads. Schools are closed today.

Just saw y’all got a tornado watch. The guy on WFLA said that it’s zooming along (20 MPH), so hopefully it won’t be a problem for you very long.

I see several counties in NC with tornado watches, mostly close to the coast, including New Hanover where I grew up.

I hope all of our friends who live in the path of Idalia are safe. What I'm seeing on the news already looks really bad. Idalia is going to cause a lot of damage

I've been watching the radar all morning. The outer bands keep creeping closer and closer to us. I hope we hear from Jeff, April, and the others that they're okay.
