Good afternoon from this side of the planet . It's 12 afternoon as I write this post. I came back from work at 11:45. It was a good day at work. Felt pretty relieved and light after settling down the finance for August last afternoon at work. It feels like a fresh start for the month and hope everyone continues to be disciplined in tracking the budget. Today morning was rushed. It's Raksha Bandhan today. The festival celebrates the bond of brother and sister. Sister ties auspicious thread( rakhi) around brother's wrist. We did a pooja( prayer) and then my younger daughter and niece tied rakhi around their cousin brothers. Also , tied the rakhi around my husband's wrist. His sisters had sent the rakhis by post. Elder one joined us on FaceTime from her college hostel . My nephews and other niece came last night and had a sleepover here. The gang of youths had fun last night and I could hear them having fun downstairs till late night Had some good yummy breakfast of puri( fried stuff) , kheer( sweet ), potato tomato curry, paneer masala and chhole ( chick peas). It was too heavy breakfast and I am definitely going to skip lunch and have only watermelon if I feel hungry I had to finish everything by 7 as my daughter and her cousins had to leave for their offices and colleges. I woke up half an hour before my usual 5 AM time to do all the preparations. I have huge gang of brother and cousins. I have 17 of them( I was the only girl). So, I grew up tying rakhis on so many wrists. But from last one decade, none are close to me and I really miss it. I sent them rakhi and sweets through post and Amazon . And my bank balance will be happy today as gifts in form of money keep flowing . I have already received the message of five transfers in my account since morning . So much of blabbering for now I have some dirty dishes in sink since morning and have to clean up kitchen. I left in hurry for the work. So, after a bit of reading your discussions and responding to them, I will move to the kitchen. It's last day of August and I hope everyone have reached their goal hereI will miss the payout again here. And will get a fatter amount next month Take care.

I'm glad you had a good day, and I hope you enjoy your festival. I'm glad you enjoyed your breakfast. You have a really big family! There's only me and my brother, but my Grandma Cross was one of 10 children. Congratulations on the boosting of your bank account. Where does it all come from? I hope you manage to do all the work you need to do, and then you can have a rest. I will be getting about $7 from MyLot next month. It's taken me ages to accumulate that amount! I hope you are well. You take care too. Have a nice day.

It's been a century long traditional celebrations. And yes, siblings and cousins look forward to this celebration. It also gives a feeling that divine power brings you together as siblings or cousins. It celebrates the love and bond that you share. Most of Indian families with all extended family members are huge Earlier people had lots of children. Glad that you are getting paid. Getting 7 dollars is not easy. I did take a nap after sorting out kitchen and washing dishes. I was fresh for my afternoon therapy sessions.

@sharonelton When I used to be regular and active here, I would make anything between 5 dollars to 17 dollars in a month. But the months I am not much here, I get a few cents. I have reached 4.38 mark today morning. It took three months to be there. I am not much here since June after I goy busy with a new role at work

Thank you Linda. Though it was a rushed celebration being a working weekday, we enjoyed the time together. And the youngsters had a good time the previous night with all the sleepover. Hope that you are doing good.

Thank you Rebecca. I am not much here or on the other sites. I haven't reached five dollars mark since June. That's okay. I am just glad that I can peep in here whenever I can and say hello to my friends and catch up a bit.

Thank you Valerie. Though it was a rush one being a working day, I am glad that the youngsters had a good time together the previous night. Now, they alk are so busy with work and studies, they don't get much time to stay in touch. Such occassions make it possible. I am happy with my bank balance I received 35 K Indian rupees and that's equivalent to 500 dollars

Hmm... it's all the side effects of smartphone getting cheap and Internet getting cheap. All these viral videos and messages. It's been happening a lot in the last few years for every festival. I don't remember that we had any muhurat for rakhi tying.

It really does sound like a sweet tradition. Perhaps if we had that here, siblings would be kinder to each other. Honestly though, I have a hard time seeing the American boys cooperating in such a special thing.

Our younger generations are too becoming a bit indifferent to these traditions. It's more of global influence in this digital world.

It was good to get to spend some time with family. Being a working day, the celebrations were a bit rushed up. It would have been better on a weekend. I did sort out the kitchen after some bit of mylotting and even took a little longer nap to get ready for the afternoon therapy sessions that I take.

So do I. I don't let chores pile up to become overwhelming. But I had to leave for work early and so had to leave it for later. Being busy is blessing
