Welcome to September, and with the new month comes a new monthly theme. This time I’m looking at songs that I personally found humorous. Since I ended last month’s countdown with a dance song, we might as well stay on that theme. Ain’t Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman) - Joe Tex There’s lots in this song to make you laugh. One of the things I personally find hilarious is that it was produced and co-written by country music songwriter/musician/executive Buddy Killen. “Losing Your Love” (a song Killen wrote that Jim Reeves recorded), this ain’t! (Much to Linda’s delight, no doubt. ) As for Joe Tex, he had a knack for humor. Among his big hits were “Skinny Legs and All” and “I Gotcha.” His song “I Want To (Do Everything for You)” wasn’t a novelty tune, though, and it was a #1 R&B hit in 1965 (and later covered by the rock band Nazareth). Tex died in 1985 at the age of 47 of a heart attack. He left a legacy of great soul songs, including this humorous ditty about “doing the bump” until it hurts. Heck, my mom even liked this song! Ain’t Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman) Written by Joe Tex and Buddy Killen Recorded by Joe Tex From Bumps and Bruises, 1976 She did that dip again and I hit the floor again:

I’ll go ahead and put you down for a “no” tomorrow, since it was recorded before my parents were born.

I agree it's really funny. He even says that she almost broke his hip. I'm listening to it now. Thanks for the link.

Someone said you moved to Florida, I think it was you. Hope you all good. You always on the move anyway, you might as just call whole US your home except the left coast. Come on that was a good one. That is a fun song, kind of rude, but my friend would get a kick out of it. Most people with a sense of humor would.

This wasn’t rude back then. And like I said to JJ, he did have a song called “Skinny Legs and All” in the 60s, so he covered everything.

@FourWalls The last time I line danced was with my middle schoolers at a school dance and it wasn't to country. It was Cha Cha # whatever. I did learn to do the Dougie. How could I not?

I remember him vaguely, this song not at all. This should be an interesting countdown, on how many I may know.

Oh, no, this song isn’t remotely country. It was just co-written by a country songwriter.

It gave me a laugh. Probably why my mom liked it, too, the humor in it.
