Jimmy Buffett - 1946-2023

Good morning to you all, I woke up this morning and looked at the news online and one of the first stories I see is that Jimmy Buffett died last night. Though they didn’t give much information about how he died. He did go to the hospital in May for an undisclosed sickness. I’m sure eventually it will come out. I wouldn’t call myself a Parrothead, the name his cult like followers call themselves, but I did like some of his more famous songs like Margaritaville, and Cheeseburger in Paradice among a few others. Not my usual style of music but sometimes you just need some chill music to relax to. Buffett turned his song Margaritaville into a lifestyle and a few businesses. He opened a few restaurants that of course had a tropical theme, he started Margaritaville records, a record label, among others.

It was pretty darn late last night when I read the news, and I was surprised. I probably shouldn’t have been.

I haven't heard any of his music. Hope that he didn't have to suffer a lot due to his sickness. May his soul rest in peace!

I know he was known internationally but not sure that means he was known in every corner of the world.

@arunima25 Oh alright, understandable, not everyone is interested in his music. I mean there are a lot of people who I have never heard their music or at least don't know that I ever have.

I’m not a Parrothead in the sense of the “have a cheeseburger at 5 o’clock in Margaritaville.” I saw him five times and met him twice. I did a top ten countdown of my favorite Buffett songs a few years ago, and they were mostly his ballads. The man who wrote “He Went to Paris” and “The Captain and the Kid,” the man who so lovingly covered “Biloxi” and “California Promises,” that’s the Jimmy Buffett I mourn and will miss.

Sounds like a bigger fan than me, I never seen him, but I liked some of his stuff. I sure many fans and of course family and friends will miss him dearly.
