You have GOT to be kidding me

I was woken up at 6:30 am by the hallway smoke detector going off. There was no smoke. There was no fire. I turned it off and it immediately started chirping every 15 seconds like it needed a new battery. My ex just changed the battery for me in May so shouldn't have been an issue. I didn't have time to screw around with it before leaving for the hospital When I got back here it was still chirping. I had a new 9 volt battery but I don't have a stepstool to reach the thing. One of the Moroccans just got back from work so I asked him to stop up to change it for me. He could barely reach it. At one point we thought we heard 2 different chirps. Anyway he got the new battery into the hallway detector and it stopped. . . and then the one in the bedroom started going. I don't have any other batteries (nor does he) so the G-D thing is going to go all night long. I'm never going to be able to fall asleep.

Can you take the battery out of the chirping one just so you can get some sleep?

That's definitely quite the way to wake up. Hopefully you're able to figure out what the issue is.

Oh goodness. If you have ear plugs, wear them to help fall asleep.

I had the same thing happen to me about a year ago, and after countless times of changing the batteries, I finally realized that the detector itself was malfunctioning. Once I bought a new one, things went back to normal. But it was a disaster hearing that stupid thing go off in the middle of the night for no apparent reason.

How infuriating! I hope you can get it sorted soon. And maybe invest in a step stool!

Looks like you'll have to buy batteries and a step stool.

Can you call for a professional technician,I feel like it was not a simple issue, you'd better ask a tehnician for inspection, alternatively, call a after-sale man to fix the issue.A temporary solution it to cut off power supply of the detector,it won't sound again.Wish the issue will be fixed very soon, good luck.
