Day 59 Luke 1:67 Filled with the Holy Spirit, his father Zacharias prophesied, saying, 68 “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people, 69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David, 70 as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, who have been since the world began, 71 that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us, 72 to perform the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant, 73 the oath which He swore to our father Abraham: 74 to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, 75 in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life. 76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways, 77 to give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins, 78 through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; 79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” 80 So the child grew and became strong in spirit and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel. What do you do when something good happens to you? Do you take credit for it, or do you share credit with those who helped? Or do you give credit to someone else? Zacharias needed to see proof of what the angel told him in the temple. When God gave him a child as He promised, the Holy Spirit filled him, and he prophesied about what his son would do. He blessed God for what He did and said his son would pave the way for the Messiah, fulfilling the prophecies of the prophets since the world began and remembering His oath to Abraham. Zacharias recognized that God visited them and redeemed His people, even though the act of redemption had not happened yet. As Christians, you are familiar with Zacharias’ prophecy. You read it as already taken place because God redeemed His people through the blood of His Son on the cross. His son, John, though a baby, would prepare the way of the Lord, preaching to and baptizing the people in the wilderness. He blessed God for what He would do in the coming days. Unlike the prophets before him who prophesied about the birth of his son to prepare the way of the Lord, hundreds of years before, and prophesied about the birth, life, and death of the Messiah, Zacharias’ prophecy would take place soon. It already started to see fulfillment in the birth of his son, John. Zacharias blessed God because God did what only God could in fulfilling the prophecies He gave to His servants. He was only an instrument in God’s hands. When God works in you to do His will, you need to bless God for what He did through you. You could accomplish nothing without His help. It is only when you take credit for what He did in your life that things get messed up. You are God’s instrument to fulfill His will in your life. Bless God today for all He did and will do in your life. Let’s pray: Father, not my will, but Yours be done in my life. I am Your servant, an instrument in Your hands to do Your work. Help me see the blessings You give me daily and praise You for what You do through me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 11 September 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

Yes, a good reminder, that we should not strive to fulfil our own wants and desires, before we investigate what God wants of us for we to do with our lives here. When we follow God's will, we need no other desires, and wants, in our lives of our own anyway. We need to live our lives to the fullest for God, and satisfy his wishes for our lives, and so, complete satisfactorily, our spiritual mission for God here too.

@just4him Yes, that is the great part about our doing God's will, and when we do so, we obtain his guidance, and help, then too, in our fulfilling, and achieving, his purpose for our lives then too.
