Hi, everyone. Sorry I haven’t been around much the last few days. I’ve been in a “funk,” I guess (the “feeling down” kind, not the “crank up the James Brown” kind). Between Buffett’s death, seeing a friend’s heart ripped out with her father’s passing, the fiasco at the VA, and the end of the putting season, it’s just not been a good September thus far. Oh, and Mr. Morton needs to come get his neuroma out of my foot! Or else I’m going to stop using his salt! That’s an interesting thing about getting older: you get a free anatomy lesson every time you go to the doctor. A Morton’s neuroma is a an inflammatory problem, where the nerve between two toes gets pinched by the inflammation. It. Is. Not. Pleasant. Monday was a big day, because Talking Heads reunited!!! Just for a press conference, though: their classic concert film Stop Making Sense is being reissued in celebration of the 40th anniversary of what’s been called by many the best concert movie ever. I was a little surprised when I saw the photo of the members at the Toronto Film Festival, where the reissued film premiered. DANG, they look old! You might say they are old (ages: Jerry Harrison-74, Tina Weymouth-73, David Byrne and Chris Frantz-72), but wow, it shows. Maybe it’s because all of them except Byrne have been out of the public eye for a number of years. The last time I saw them was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction 20 years ago. In contrast, Don Henley, who hasn’t been out of the limelight, looks as though he’s aging quite gracefully (which is hard to believe, since he obviously is kept awake at night by the thought of someone posting one of his videos on Facebook…). The Jewish New Year is Friday night, so Shanah Tovah to all who celebrate! And to everyone, have a great evening!

Don't be in a funk. That's not like you. I'm sorry all those things happened to you. I'm having excruciating pain from my knee and can't walk. That's the one that I think needs to be replaced. Please try and have a good day, my friend. And Shanah Tovah to you...

Oh, it’s very like me. Except it usually happens in November. I’m better, thanks.

Ouch, I am sure that the Morton's neuroma is not at all pleasant. Tell Mr. Morton to get it back immediately! My father in Law used to celebrate Jewish Holidays, I forgot that Friday Night is Jewish New Year.

I have a bottle of water in the freezer to roll my foot over while I drink hot tea. It does help the neuroma, even if it chills me to the bone.

I know what a Morton’s neuroma is strictly because I am an ardent fan of The Golden Girls, and in one episode the character of Dorothy also has one in her foot. The Golden Girls is also why I know who Donna Rice is, and why Jerry Falwell once went down a water slide in a suit.

I lived through the Gary Hart/Donna Rice thing. Glad they put “everyday” problems like a Morton’s neuroma in TV shows.

Yeah, sometimes you need a penalty flag thrown for “piling on.”
