Day 62
Luke 6:27 “I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. 29 To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. From him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. 30 Give to everyone who asks of you. From him who takes away your goods do not ask for them back. 31 Just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. 32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. 35 Love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. 36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.”
It's hard to love your enemies. It’s hard to show kindness when you receive none. Most often the motto today is to do to others what they do to you.
Jesus told the people to love their enemies. He told them to be kind when no one was kind to them. To lend to others who ask expecting nothing in return. He told them not to be like those who expect something in return. Instead, you are to show kindness and love to everyone because God their Father shows love and kindness to everyone.
Christians fall into the trap set by Satan to give back the same as they received from their enemies. No matter how hard they try to live a Christian life and to be more like Jesus every day, it isn’t easy. Satan is right there to show them their faults. Only when you spend time in the Word, studying and praying, can you hope to steer clear of Satan’s traps.
Recognize the trap Satan laid for you and turn away. Let him know you will not act like the world no matter what the world does to you.
Solomon said to give your enemy whatever he needs.
Proverbs 25:21 If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; 22 for so you will heap coals of fire on his head, and the LORD will reward you.
Heaping coals of fire on the head was a good thing. People kept their fires alive during the night. When someone needed to restart their fire, they could help them out by giving them what they needed.
God rewards your kindness to others, no matter who they are. Don’t let Satan tell you they would never do the same for you. Show kindness. You will throw them off their game and you might turn an enemy into a friend.
Proverbs 16:7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. (NKJV)
When you live your life as God intends, He will take care of you and reward you for your kindness to others, no matter who they are.
Let’s pray: Father, help me to love my enemies. Don’t let Satan convince me to treat them the way they treat me. Let me show kindness to everyone. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

We have been so conditioned throughout our entire lives to treat others how they treat us, that we often lose sight of the big picture, in that Jesus gave us two simple but profound commands: love God, and love people. He didn't mean some people, he meant all people. Given our sinful nature, it is hard for us to do that on a regular and routine basis, but it is what we are called to do. Being a Christian is not easy, but we have to trust in God's word.

@just4him And these days, it’s getting harder and harder to love everyone. People have become so nasty and selfish and entitled. I mean, it doesn’t change the fact that we’re supposed to love them, it just makes it much harder to do so.

@moffittjc Yes, it does make it hard. Still, if we want love, we need to love even the unlovable.

It's really hard to love your enemies when they have done so much wrong to you. Have a blessed day.

I feel we can love everyone, but that does not mean that we need to fall victim to them.
If a scammer wants our bank account number, we should not give it to them.
In today's world to give someone our coat, might mean to give them our mobile phone too, but I do not think so.
We should use discernment to give where we see that the giving is real, and not part of a scammer trying to scam us.

@just4him Yes, we shouldn't allow a scammer to get away with it, if we can help it.
