Into everyone’s life some country music must fall. Sorry, Linda. Having grown up with country music, it was inevitable that some funny country songs would make it to this list of songs that I found humorous. There will be more, you’ve been warned. Meanwhile, here’s today’s twangin’ chuckle. My Wife Thinks You’re Dead - Junior Brown Some people just don’t have luck in their relationships. That’s what Junior Brown seems to be dealing with here, when an old flame shows up. While Brown never explains what illegalities this woman engaged in (“trouble’s what you’re lookin’ like ‘cause trouble’s where you’ve been”), he knows he just wants no part of it (“one of us will have to leave this town”). If you ever get to see Junior Brown live, take advantage of it. He’s a great performer. Super nice guy, too. And if this woman ever shows up at one of his concerts, just be aware that his wife plays rhythm guitar in his band. My Wife Thinks You’re Dead Written by Junior Brown Recorded by Junior Brown From Guit With It, 1993 You’re wanted by the police:

It sounds like pretty typical country to me.

I heard it, play in tab, copy and paste does not work but if copy in tab goes right to it. Just saying not sure people even got to song. It is humorous, in a old school way. Old man humor for sure.

I'm not familiar with this song but the title certainly is funny. Guess it's one I'll have to check out.

The other thing I love about this song is the Ernest Tubb feel Brown put in it.

I shall enjoy my Sunday. And I figured you wouldn’t know this. The twang gave it away.

Now that title takes the cake that must have been left out in the rain, Never hear anything stranger. Speaking of police I do remember the song Indiana Wants Me

R. Dean Taylor, who did “Indiana Wants Me,” was Canadian. Guess Canada didn’t want him!

He’s great on humorous songs. He has a song called “Hang Up and Drive,” and I always love the spoken line near the end, “your Skypin’s got me gripin’.”
