Another Lonely Neighbour.

Our resident soprano Tawny Owl was joined in her chorus by another lonely lady over the weekend This time a Vixen was calling. She was in the dip between the houses opposite so got some amplification to her cries for attention. I don't know if you've heard a female fox calling but it is quite eerie and sometimes mistaken for a woman - it's not unheard of for people to call the police. It's becoming quite lively here of an evening, if a little bit spooky at times. What strange or disturbing animal calls have you heard.

Oooh I love it..sounds lovely and spooky. Yes i have heard the foxes here and the coyotes too. Owls, bats, mountain lions too. Elk, moose and so on.

It must be spooky. We have foxes here and I heard them in the night, it's a disturbing sound. The hedgehogs HISS and when I have the windows open sometimes they scare me. Snakes is my first thought.

Last night we think a cat was outside. Our cats went crazy. It sounds like the cat was sending mating calls.

It's the right time of year for cats to call. Lots of kittens are born in November.
