Tomorrow the top ten starts, but first there’s one more funny song on the alphabetical list of songs that have given me a good chuckle or two (or 40) over the years. Sorry, Linda, it’s another country song. Thank God and Greyhound - Roy Clark Boy, you talk about a “perfect” country song! The song starts as a slow ballad, with the typical pain of country music songs (“I made a small fortune and you squandered it all”). Then comes the punch line. I got to see Roy Clark on a Hee Haw package show at the Kentucky State Fair in 1970. He was a marvelous showman. Thank God and Greyhound Written by Larry Kingston and John Edward Nix Recorded by Roy Clark From I Never Picked Cotton, 1970 It may sound kinda cruel:

I remember this song when it got occasional radio station airplay back in my reckless youth.

@FourWalls I had my wild moments. Jumping garbage cans on my spider bike. Starting dried leaves on fire with my magnifying glass. Walking barefoot in a yard full of sand spurs.

Gosh I've totally forgotten about Roy Clark (and the Hee Haw show). Gotta love those old country songs

I agree, gotta love the old ones…the “new country songs” sound like Lady Gaga with a southern accent.

@FourWalls a good deal of today's country music sound more like old time pop music to me.

I haven't heard this before, but I burst out laughing at the midpoint and I'm still laughing. Have a blessed day. Thanks for this one.

I loved it, but it was the only show I could stay up past my bedtime for (it ran 8:30-9:30 and my bedtime was 9). Plus, I had a schoolgirl crush on Don Rich.
