Today's trip to the big Tesco.

We had a lot to get from the big Tesco today, because no-one went to the little Tesco yesterday because it was tipping it down with rain. It had been raining earlier in the day but it had stopped by the time we went out. When we got to the shop the first thing I did was post a competition entry. Then I put the soft recycle in the recycle receptacle as usual. Then I went out to the undercover car park to see where Mum was. She hadn't even got out of the car yet, so I went and fetched a trolley while I was waiting for her. One of the lifts wasn't working, so if you pressed the button to call the lift, the out of order lift door would open and you'd have to keep waiting for the other one! When we got up to shop level the first thing we got was the TV magazines that we would have got from the little Tesco yesterday. Then I went to get a Leisure Painter magazine but I couldn't see one. The new issue should have been out on the 15th September, and today is the 20th, and I'm sure it wouldn't have sold out this quickly. I was going to get the Doctor Who magazine next week, but because I couldn't get a Leisure Painter magazine this week, I decided to get the Doctor Who magazine this week and hope the Leisure Painter magazine is in next week so that I can get that. Then we went and got a bounty bar for my step-dad that we should have got yesterday. It was a good job I didn't want any seaweed thins today because there were none in, but I got a packet of Love, Corn! Then I got 2 bottles of water. I could only get one prawn layered salad, so I got another different vegan salad bowl aswell. Then we went and got some Anadin Extra and some soothers for my step-dad, and we got 2 of each. My Mum also got some E45 Itch relief cream. Then I got some pads for my Mum and then we went to the fruit and veg section. I got some pomegranate seeds, a head of garlic for my step-dad, some strawberries, and some spring onions. They were all out of stock of blueberries! I hope I can get some down town on Friday. My Alpen that I have for breakfast is going to seem very dry without some blueberries on top. Then I got a lemon and Mum got some apples and bananas. Mum wanted to get some pitted dates for my step-dad but the only dates we could find were not pitted. I looked to see if there were any blueberries in the discounted section but no luck. I then went and got my vegan yoghurts. The end of the box my yogurts were in had some words on it and they said, "Oops. Wrong way round!" (because the side where you open the box and that should be facing the customer on the display was the other end! ) Then we got 4 bottles of milk, because we didn't get any yesterday. I decided not to get a smoothie because the days are getting cooler now (but later I got some vegan magnum ice lollies anyway! ) Mum got some puddings for Sunday. Then we went to the vegan and ready meals isle. I got some chick'n'less bites and some Quorn sweet and sour. The vegan mini quiches were quiche Lorraine and I really only wanted the vegan cheese and broccoli ones, so I didn't bother getting any of them. I compromised a bit and got a couple of chicken and bacon pasta bakes. I got a vegan pasty which said spicy vegetable for Saturday, so I hope it's not too hot, and I got some pasta parcel things for Sunday. I think they said tortelli or something like that. Mum got her own ready meals. Next I got some olive oil and Mum got some cranberry sauce. Then I went and got 3 small cans of baked beans and a can of Spring Vegetable soup for my step-dad. Then we got cakes, sugar and sweetener. We got a packet of ginger nut biscuits for my step-dad, but they were Tesco's own brand because they were longer and cheaper! Then I got some Matcha Green T-bags and Mum got some Typhoo T-bags, and I got some Honey roasted peanuts. We got 2 boxes of Alpen with no added sugar, one for me and one for my Mum. We got some sticky toffee puddings for my step-dad and got some Ambrosia light Devon custard to go with them. Then I got those vegan magnum ice lollies that I mentioned previously, and Mum got 4 boxes of oven chips for my step-dad and some other frozen things. We then got toilet paper for my step-dad and washing up liquid and then we went to pay. It came to just over £140! It was now already 4:25pm, so I quickly swapped my book at the Tesco book swap and we went down on the one lift that was working. When we got into the undercover car park, my step-dad was already there waiting, so we quickly put the bags in the boot (they were very heavy) and we went home. When we got home we unpacked the groceries and put them away. Then I had my dinner, and later I put the recycle out ready for the recycle bin man tomorrow. Mum went out to the House group. What have you lot been getting up to? I hope you are all well. Have a great day/evening/night wherever you are.

@Deepizzaguy My Mum was pre-diabetic. I don't know if she's changed that. She's got a telephone call on the 29th September as part of her medicine review, so she'll find out then. I didn't need a telephone call with my medicine review. They just sent me a letter to say everything was fine and to just carry on with my current medicine dosage. I lost weight when I went on the macrobiotic diet.

Yes, I did have a busy shopping trip. It was busier than usual because of getting the things I didn't get on Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your day with nothing going on! Have a great night, or whatever time it is where you are!

Yes, I know. But I don't bite into the seed because that's not pleasant. I chew the fleshy bit and then swallow them.

I hope you had a list to help you remember all those items. There is a joke about an Irish carton and one end says 'See other end for instructions'. When you go to the other end, it says 'Open other end'.

Oh, yes. I always write a list before I go to the shop. You should have seen my Mum's list! It was about a foot long! (Exaggeration! ) My step-dad wanted quite a few things more than usual too! Yes, that is rather funny!.

Shopping doesn't seem to get any cheaper, does it? I hit the supermarket once every couple of weeks but have taken to buying most of the veg from an old-fashioned green-grocer. Half the time the supermarket doesn't have what I want - even seasonal veg - and it's often not the best quality.

No, it doesn't. It's the cost of living crisis. We go to the little Tesco on a Tuesday, the big Tesco on a Wednesday and down town shopping on a Friday. There used to be a lovely little green-grocer we used to love going to down town called Rileys. It was very cheap and had all the fresh fruit and vegetables you could want, plus preserves, biscuits and cakes. It was a great shop and we went there every week for years. Then suddenly it closed with no notice. One week I was in there getting stuff, the next week it was closed with cloth on the windows. To this day we don't know why it closed down. And yes, that green-grocer used to have stuff I can't get in the supermarket.

@sharonelton I do hope you win the competition. My daughter and I took wood and old carpet to the dump this morning. We’re starting a big clear out before we move house.

It would be great if I did but the odds are against it. But you know what they say, you've got to be in it to win it. I hope you have a successful clear out and I hope you like your new house. Where are you moving to? Is it far from where you live now? I've always lived in Lichfield not far from where I live now.
