Book Review: She Knows Too Much by Pamela Crane

I am loving this relatively new thriller author. I made a bit of a mistake here. The "If Only She Knows" mystery series of books contains 4 books so far (#4 not out yet). I have book #2 and book #3 and accidentally read number 3 before I read number 2. (I have already read book #1). Now I'm more anxious to read number 4 before number 2 because #3 ended in a cliffhanger. Are you confused yet? Book 1 - If Only She Knew (already read) Book 2 - Little Does She Know Book 3 - She Knows Too Much (just read with cliffhanger to 4) Book 4 - What She Doesn't Know ~~~~ Bloodson Bay has a dark history soaked in blood and revenge. When a murder is linked to three friends, it's tough to prove their innocence when they each have a motive. All three women have one thing in common - a disturbing connection to the body buried in Tara's horse ranch. Everyone in Bloodson Bay heard about the bad blood between Tara and the victim. And rumor has it Ginger's been holding a grudge of her own. But only Sloane knows her own dark connection to him that she wishes would disappear... a secret she's buried as deep as his body. When they stumble on a 1990's cassette tape exposing clues from the past, the trio must work together despite their strained history to catch a killer. Not even the Girl Power of the Spice Girls can prove their innocence, no matter how much they want to be free of suspicion. One of the women knows to much... and it's only a matter of time before it gets them all killed. ~~~~ Tara is the main character, the town troublemaker with a heart of gold. She also runs a horse rescue farm with her sister-in-law, Peace. Ginger is the wild grandma whose fashion is stuck in 1986. She is also the mother of Sloane's late husband, Ben. Sloane is the deaf entrepreneur thrust into fame after her husband is murdered. Peace is Tara's husband's (Chris') sister. Some back story... Tara's husband Chris was arrested for the murder of Sloane's husband, Ben. But he was later acquitted. If this isn't already complicated enough. The Valance family led by the corrupt Judge Valance and his two son's Victor and Leo are in the thick of this mystery of the buried body in Tara's backyard. There's also a corrupt cop on the Valance payroll - Alonzo. Sounding pretty mob-like, right? The story is told in three different POV's - Tara's, Ginger's and Sloane's. As confusing as this story might seem, it was really easy to follow and a very easy read as far as short chapters (which included chapters of dictation from the cassette tapes). The Valance story is wrapped up in the end. But the cliffhanger comes when Ginger decides to go on a date with her long-estranged ex-husband, Rick, and he doesn't show up. He also happened to be working for the Valance family. So what happens to Ginger and Rick? Now you know why I need to read book 4!!! An intriguing story that had me hooked from the beginning. It has been a while ago since I read book one so I remembered pretty much nothing. I enjoyed every minute of this book and highly recommend the series.

It sounds like you consider this series a real winner, and that’s always nice.

The book I'm reading now is actually a 3rd in a 4 book series. I have to read 4 (according to the author) but I may not have to read 1 and 2. We'll see.

I don't think you told us who the author is. It sounds like an interesting read. I might check it out when I have more time.

I've stumbled on series accidently when I've read a book that wasn't the first in the series. This sounds like a series I would enjoy.

I read a Jeffrey Archer book that ended with a cliffhanger and then I realized it was part of a series. I never even went in search of the next book I was so po'd.

@Marilynda1225 The first time that happened with a Jeffrey Archer book I refused to find out what the next title was and try and find it (it was an old book on my shelf). I was irritated by it. I'm getting used to it now. And with the newer books I know I can follow up relatively soon. Still bugs me a little though.

@patgalca that would be sooo frustrating to read a book that ends with a cliffhanger and is part of a series. I'd probably feel like you did

I have done that before, gotten into a book only to realize it was part of a series. Glad you are liking this one. Hope you get number 4 when it comes out.

I don't know how I missed that it was a series. I read the first book a while back. I should have seen at the end of it that there was another in the series.

You know it's a good read when I read it very quickly. I'm almost finished the book I'm reading now. Another fascinating read.
