Chocolate chip cookies who made your favorite?

So, I found Tate's chocolate chip cookies. They are made in small batches in the Hamptons..where the celebrity big shots have homes. These are normally quite expensive, but I got a deal on these. You know I wouldn't have bought them if I didn't. They taste like butter...Color me not a fan.
Anyway, my mother's chocolate cookies were good, but my classmates mom, Connie Segrist made the best ones ever. I think she put shortening in them. What choc chip cookies float your boat?

Better Homes & Gardens came out with a children's cookbook in the 1980s, and my grandmother bought one copy each for my sister and me. The recipes were simple enough for a child to make, and maybe that simplicity is what made those chocolate chip cookies the best I ever had. I still have that cookbook at my dad's house.

@snowy22315 I’m pretty sure it was butter.

Did they call for shortening or butter?

Once in awhile you find a bakery that does them right, but still not delicious like homemade. Maybe this Christmas I will try making half a recipe.

@snowy22315 - I agree that cookies are never as delicious like homemade. I made cinnamon cookies last week, they are so good.

As a child I enjoyed Chips Ahoy and later on whenever I wanted some chocolate chip cookies I would buy the Pillsbury dough,

I am sorry, I don't think store bought chocolate chip cookies hold a candle to homemade. I haven't found any that taste authentic, but some of the bakery ones aren't bad.

My grandma made oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips in them, but not the actual chocolate chip recipe you find on a pkg. of choc chips

@Dena91 My grandmother's weren't overly sweet. Other than pies, she didn't put an excessive amount of sugar in her baked goods.

@snowy22315 Mike's mom made the same and I couldn't eat but one or two, way too sweet. Mike wouldn't touch them, he doesn't eat a lot of sweets at all.

I never had Walmarts. I don't know the last time I made chocolate chip cookies. I tend to make PB ones. CChip cookies would be dangerous for me to have around. I could eat several at a time.

My kids had a teacher who made the very best chocolate chip cookies in the county. She even gave me the recipe, but mine were never as good.

Yes, isn't that frustrating, when you get a recipe and it doesn't taste as good as the original? Another thing is making something you think is going to taste great, and it doesn't?

Giant Eagle Bakery makes a good chocolate chip cookie; but they are too expensive. I can't bake anymore or I would try a whole bunch of recipes. Have a good weekend.
