Day Trip Today
September 21, 2023 6:25pm CST
Today was a fun day for my husband, myself and our dog Jenny. My husband had a business call this morning at 10:30 so I took Jenny for a nice long walk to get in some steps for me. Then we went home and he was finished with his call, so we took Jenny for a nice ride to Ellijay, Ga. We have a favorite lunch restaurant there but if you get there around lunchtime, there is usually a long wait. So on the way up to Ellijay, we stopped at an apple orchard and got some fresh apple cider, apple butter, and a fresh loaf of sourdough bread. Next, we stopped at a used bookstore that I have credit at and I bought 4 used books and only had to pay 50% due to my credit. Then we stopped at a cute pet store that carries Earth Animal dog chews which are something like rawhide chews but plant-based and there is no rawhide in it. Jenny loves them. Finally, we went to the restaurant, which has an outside terrace where dogs are allowed. Because we had waited a bit and didn't get to the restaurant until about 1:30 pm, we found a parking spot right in front. I had a pecan/apple salad with a scoop of chicken salad, my husband had a turkey sandwich with a cup of delicious tomato soup, and we shared a piece of carrot cake for dessert. Then we came home and all three of us took a nap! It was a wonderful day. Where do you like to go when you take a day trip?

That sounds like a day great day, indeed. I love thinking about Jenny happily tagging along. A few weeks ago we went on a day trip, and met my sister and her family at this hamburger place designed to look like an old-fashioned jukebox joint. The hamburgers and milkshakes are incredibly authentic as well. It was nice to get together when we hadn't seen each other in awhile.

@AmbiePam Oh that does sound like fun. Did you play any songs on the jukebox? And yes, Jenny is a very good girl when we take her to restaurants. She loves to get treats under the table from us so she lays there pretty quietly.
