It is a term that best describes a person who does not focus on talking with someone while being with him or her. Instead, he or she focuses more on using his or her mobile phones. If you are one of them, then you are "phubbing." Being a "phubber can destroy the relationship with people close to him or her. It can be related to being addicted to mobile games, surfing the internet, using social media, and so on. The term is a combination of "phone" and "snub."
Are you a phubber?
What would be your call for those people who phub?

I talk to people on the phone when I have to but prefer to text with them... I also use my phone to play solitaire and earn extra money that way. My phone is a tool for my use, not so people I don't really want to communicate with can reach me at their convenience.
I would tell other people like me "Good job!"

I think it is acceptable to use mobile phones when calling someone if not being with him or her physically. It is another story when bonding together at home but not focusing on talking with family members. For the reason that he or she is looking at her smartphones without looking at them.

@Shavkat Sometimes Pretty will text me from her bedroom... usually to ask me to come talk to her.

@DaddyEvil I can relate to that. I sometimes send a message to my immediate family members with the certain concerns, despite living with them under the same roof.

It is annoying when visitors bring their phone and attend to calls that they receive.

@Shavkat Unless they are expecting some urgent call there is no need for them to keep their phone on.

@allknowing You are right. That situation is a valid one to consider.

Yes and no. I do know how to put the phone down believe it or not. But, it's not uncommon for me to multi-task, too. I will use my phone, but I'm still engaged with conversation around me, too.

I must admit that I alway do multi-tasking especially when teaching online. It is a part of soft skill to carry out the tasks online. I am talking while typing at the same time for the students to understand certain things. Some of them have poor listening skills.

Nope, I have no one to talk to and no mobile phone so I am certainly not a phubber. When I do talk to someone I give them my whole undivided attention,

No, I am not. I don't use my mobile phone when I am talking to someone.
