Bad day yesterday

Yesterday was a pretty bad day. It was rough at work. The kids were worse than usual which is difficult to do since they are pretty bad most of the time. I was exhausted when I got off of work and then went to the store to pick up a few groceries and we went through the Culver's drive-thru only to get a call from my husband as we were waiting on food to be told he just got stung by a bee and was waiting on an ambulance. My husband is deathly allergic. He had his epi pen which is fortunate because the manager on duty at his work told him to sit down and that was her solution. She didn't understand why he was so upset and asked someone what his problem was. They told him he was deathly allergic to bees and she just went "oh" and walked away not bothering to call an ambulance or try and get him help. I'm still ticked at that one. He had to use their crew app and have the general manager call him and she was the one that called the ambulance. When he called me he asked me to meet him at the hospital. He doesn't understand why I freak out when he calls me. I told him he calls me so rarely while he's working and when he usually does this is one of the reasons why. He makes me panic all the time. I was like I wish you would just text me non-emergency information because days like yesterday are why he usually calls me so when he calls me for any other reason I freak out unnecessarily. When he called me the ambulance wasn't there yet and we were just across the street from his work. I was on the phone with him for a little bit as he waited and I hung up when I told him I saw them. We went to the hospital but I don't know why we bothered since he had to be there for three hours for observation after taking his epi pen as a precaution and also because they had to get his BP down. My husband ended up with a headache most of the night due to the sting and the epi. This is the second time he has been stung within a year. It has been just shy of a year since his last sting. Both times it happened at work at completely random moments. One at his first job when one flew in and stung him on the neck and then yesterday at his second job when one flew through the drive thru window and got him in the same exact spot the other one did. We have been to tons of places with bees and he hasn't been stung but the two times he was inside away from bees they managed to fly in and get him. We were exhausted yesterday and were glad he was ok. I decided to look at the good instead of the bad in the situations yesterday. My husband got the help he needed and is ok which is the most important thing. My day at work was exhausting and the kids were bad but there were good moments mixed in where the kids were sweet and I chose to look at those. Today we had to go and get my husband new epi pens but they're expensive and his insurance won't cover them right now since we have to pay down the deductible which is outrageous. We went to Walmart pharmacy because they were the cheapest there and he managed to get them for under 200 for the generic version. We have a card that is supposed to cover them because we get I think about 300 every year for medical expenses through our insurance and he went to use that but they declined it. He had to pay out of pocket and then call his insurance and ask why they declined it and they said it shouldn't have been declined and told him to file a reimbursement claim which he just did. His prescription was called in the night before and they said it wasn't read when we got there around 11 this morning and said it wouldn't be ready for at least 20 minutes which was annoying because he had to be to work at 2 PM. We went and good lunch and went back and then dealt with all of the money issues. We aren't poor but having to drop almost 200 dollars for something that is life-saving is annoying. We got it pretty cheap because normally it's 600 for name brand and 300 for generic. We were super annoyed. No one should ever have to go without life-saving medication because insurance companies and drug manufacturers want to be greedy. Anyway, that has been my last couple of days. I'm tired and annoyed but still grateful. I'm hoping workers comp will cover my husband's medical expenses for the bee sting since it happened at work. His other job covered it. Otherwise, it looks like we'll slowly be paying off medical bills until insurance kicks in.

That's rough. At least you and your husband are okay. So, that's something to be thankful for.

I agree, that is the most important thing. That is definitely my take away after a bad day.

It sounds to me like the manager on duty at your husband's work is not very with it. You'd think that a manager would have a little more knowledge of the world around him. I hope your husband files for reimbursement and doesn't just let go. I also hope you have some great days coming up.

Thank you, the manager was clearly not the brightest. He already filed the claim and is just waiting now.

I really hope so, medical assistance is badly needed by employees especially when we don't earn much, we know it is so expensive to go to the doctor. I just had my ey check up and need to change glasses and it cost me a fortune, since I don't earn much, maybe if I am a millionaire I will not feel that little slit in my pocket after I paid for it, lol! I hope your husband is okay now, and I hope you get medical financial assistance very soon. God bless.

Anything that is life saving should be free or low cost with insurance.

Thank you, he went back to work the next day. He hates sitting around and refuses to take the day off. He's a bit of a workaholic. I tried to get him to stay home and told him that I'm pretty sure his work would get why he needed a day off but he wouldn't take it. I hope they cover it too. Otherwise we'll be making medical payments for a while.
